prp microneedling
aka the "vampire" facial

treat your skin to a glow-up like no other

PRP microneedling, also known as the vampire facial, has gotten a lot of press lately, and for good reason!  PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma and is the portion of your blood that is rich in platelets.  Platelets are cell components crucial to the body's own healing process.  They contain thousands of little sacks, known as granules, full of cytokines and growth factors.  Growth factors like platelet-derived growth factor, transforming growth factor, and vascular endothelial growth factor are responsible for the bodies response to injury and healing.  They promote formation of new vessels, accumulation of extracellular components like collagen and elastin, and creation of new levels of hyaluronic acid.  In areas of hair loss, these growth factors also stimulate new hair growth in hair follicles, improving adrogen-associated alopecia.  Many companies have tried to replicate these growth factors in the laboratory, or have attempted to store them and sell them directly to consumers.  The only problem is that these growth factors are very unstable outside of the body, potentially leading to poor outcomes in patients.  With PRP microneedling, blood is removed by Dr. Berger directly from the patient, treated in the office, and administered in a sterile fashion immediately to that patient's skin which captures all growth factors while they are truly active. This eliminates the problem of factor inactivation from the treatment outcome.

Traditionally, PRP was injected into the skin, joints, or areas of hair loss directly.  However, Dr. Berger utilizes the micro-channels created during microneedling to deliver PRP.  This process combines the benefits of microneedling with PRP.  The result is microneedling taken to the next level, and a faster recovery time to boot!  Skin will often appear tighter, lighter, and with a noticeable improvement in bounce and elasticity.  Often, a series of three treatments is recommended to achieve significant results, but benefits can be noticed after a single treatment.  Enjoy!  We know your skin will.

PRP facials, also known as "vampire" facials are named after the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) that is taken from the patient's own blood.  PRP is the portion of your blood that contains cell components called platelets and their growth factors.  Together they can trigger cell proliferation, speed healing, and stimulate tissue regeneration.  With the PRP facial, the result is a noticeably fresher appearance of the skin, and reduction in fine lines and crepey-ness due to new collagen formation.  Only a small vial of blood is required for the procedure, and a centrifuge is used to separate the valuable plasma from the rest of the blood components.  The PRP is then infused into the skin via the microneedling treatment.

Very little downtime is required for PRP microneedling.  The skin will initially appear red, like a sun burn.  This effect will last 1-2 days.  On the day of treatment, you will not want to wash your face or apply product to your face until the following day.  Ideally, do not wear makeup for 3-4 days after treatment to allow the skin's microchannels to fully close.
