microneedling

keep the bounce in your skin

Several things happen as we age that produce changes in our skin we all love to hate.  First, skin cell turnover slows down....way down.  A child's skin cells turn over on average every 5-7 days.  In our youth, this slows down to about once a month.  After age 50, our skin turns over every 90 days which means the outer layer people see is almost 2 months old!  The result is a dull, dry complexion.  Second, our skin's ability to make collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin decreases, and we're also less able to repair what is still present.  These elements form the structure and bounce that our skin relies on to stay supple.  The result is an increase in wrinkles and fine lines.  Lastly, there's a decrease in blood flow through skin capillaries which means less nutrients reach our skin's epidermis, or the outermost layer of our skin.  The result is thinning of the skin, loss of barrier function, and loss of moisture over time.  Let's face it, our bodies were just not designed to live into our 80s, and our skin is a reflection of that!

Luckily, keep-md can now help you address a lot of these concerns, and microneedling may be the most efficient in tackling all three!  Also called collagen induction therapy, microneedling is a minimally-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that utilizes tiny, sterile needles to stimulate the bodies own rejuvenation and healing pathways.  Cytokines and growth factors are released which stimulate the production of collagen, increase hyaluronic acid production, increase cell turnover, and promote new vessel formation.  In other words, with microneedling keep-MD can help your skin to behave like the skin of your youth again!

Wooden Hut

Microneedling is a minimally-invasive treatment that uses sterile, single-use cartridges of tiny needles about the size of a strand of hair.  Before the procedure, the skin will be numbed for 45 minutes with a topical anesthetic to prevent any discomfort. The tool is then used to create tiny "micro-channels" in the outermost layer of the skin called the epidermis without significant damage to this outer layer itself.  Over the next several weeks, the skin appears less dull and exhibits more vitality.

what is
microneedling

Microneedling can be used to treat several skin issues including:

  • fine lines/wrinkles

  • large pores

  • acne scars

  • stretch marks

  • discoloration/melasma

  • rosacea

  • problems with skin texture

  • dull skin

  • crepey skin

Typically, a series of 3 treatments is performed spaced 4 weeks apart to obtain the best result.

what are the
benefits

Microneedling requires minimal recovery or downtime after treatment.  Your skin will be red for 1-2 days.  You can return to normal activities immediately after your treatment but it is recommended to avoid other skin products until the next day.  Ideally, makeup is not placed on the skin for 3-4 days to allow the microchannels to fully close.
